Why is the transaction status `Cancelled` when the Customer Area shows `CancelNotProcessed`?
In some scenarios it can occur that a /cancel operation is unsuccessful. This usually happens when the infrastructure at the issuing bank, or the connection to that specific bank, does not support (partial) cancellation of an authorisation.
In situations where the cancellation does not process, it is due to the logic on the issuers end. Unfortunately, even if the cancellation reflected a failed status we cannot reprocess cancellation requests.
Adyen might still send you a successful CANCELATION notification with the transactions status ‘Cancelled’ indicating that the request itself has been successfully made without errors and that the cancellation was processed on Adyen’s end.
The shopper can reach out to the issuer or can wait for the authorisation to expire.
The authorisation will automatically expire from the shopper’s account, usually within 14 days. For you as a merchant, there is no additional risk of chargebacks as no funds are moved yet (the shopper was not charged).
Why do I see duplicate payments?
Our system processes transaction requests when they are sent from your platform to ours. The merchant reference in the payment request is not checked for uniqueness when a payment request is received.
This means that a shopper could have opened multiple payment sessions from your checkout, for example by opening multiple tabs in the browser, and paid in all the opened sessions. On your end, these sessions most likely have the same merchant reference.
However, Adyen’s system treats this as unique payment requests, and we will create a unique PSP reference for each of the sessions.
Do prepaid cards support recurring payments?
No, prepaid cards (and giftcards) do not support recurring payments.
How do I add a new payment method?
You can add payment methods by requesting them from your Customer Area (test or live). Make sure you are at merchant account level, as payment methods can not be requested from the company level. Then go to Account > Payment methods, and click Request payment methods.
To request payment methods, you need the Manage payment methods role in the Customer Area. If this is not available for your, please reach out to your admin user.
